The Figueroa Fire has now burned 698 acres and is 100% contained. Precautionary evacuations of Figueroa have been lifted. Crews monitor last night and no significant fire activity was observed.

Today, the Type 3 Organization (Tom Plymale, IC Type 3) took command of the fire this morning at 0600 hours, 9-7-2011, from CCIIMT7 (Jim Smith). Over the next couple of days, the weather will become hotter and dryer, along with gusty winds over the fire area.

The Figueroa Fire has now burned 698 acres and is 100% contained. Precautionary evacuations of Figueroa have been lifted. Crews monitor last night and no significant fire activity was observed.

Today, an east wind is expected to develop early over the fire. Relative humidity will have little or no recovery. Temperatures will likely be 10 degrees above seasonal normal. The Central Coast Inter-Agency Management Team 7 is now managing suppression operations on the fire. Incident Commander of Team 7 is Jim Smith of the Los Padres National Forest. Type 3 Organization (Tom Plymale, IC Type 3) is shadowing today and will assume command of the incident on 9/7/2011 at 0600.

Temperature tonight, in the area of the fire, is forecast to drop to 85 degrees, with RH at 25%. Wind out of the west at 3-6 mph. No thunder storms developed today in the fire area. Tomorrow, east wind is expected to develop early over the fire. Relative humidity will have little or no recovery. Temperatures will likely be 10 degrees above seasonal normal. The Central Coast Inter-Agency Management Team 7 is now managing suppression operations on the fire. Incident Commander of Team 7 is Jim Smith of the Los Padres National Forest.

Figueroa precautionary evacuation was lifted today. Hot dry weather in the river canyon. Slight chance of thunderstorms over the burn area today.

Isolated flare ups along fire perimeter with minimal spread.

Current resources assigned to the fire: Crews: 6 Engines: 7 Helicopters: 3 Dozers: 1 Water Tenders: 2 Total Personnel: 270

The Figueroa Fire has now burned 692 acres and is 30% contained. Limited access for fire crews is a concern and a precautionary evacuation of the Figueroa area is still in place. Crews today will work to complete control lines, improve existing fire lines, protect values at risk and preplan contingency operations.

Temperature in the area of the fire is forecast to be very hot again today at 95 degrees, with very low RH at 10-15%. Wind out of the N/E at 3-6 mph.

A fire which started at approximately 1:00 P.M. this afternoon, in the area of the Sisquoc Ranch, has now burned approximately 500 acres. Access into the area where the fire is burning is limited. Shortly after the fire started, a small number of structures were reported as being threatened, but none have been reported as damaged at this time. Crews and engines from the Forest Service as well as CALFIRE and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (Santa Ynez Chumash Reservation) were dispatched to the fire. Fixed and rotary wing fire suppression aircraft were also quickly on scene shortly after the fire's start.

Remote difficult access. Large column of smoke has been confirmed in the area of Nira (Figueroa Mountain). USFS air and ground fire suppression resources are responding.
