Firefighters continue to make good progress towards full containment. With the significant fire history of the area and the predicted weather changes, firefighting resources remain committed to support active and contingency operations throughout all affected communities.

Hwy 78 is closed between Wynola Rd & Scissors Crossing (S2).
There is also a hard road closure Wynola Rd East of the Banner side to west of S-2 at Scissors Crossing.

25 residences are threatened. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The fire continued to be active overnight.

The wind has shifted and is now coming from west southwest, the fire is burning to the northeast toward the desert into sparser fuels, away from populated areas. No structures are currently threatened.

CAL FIRE is on scene of several lightning caused fires in the backcountry of San Diego County.
The Chihuahua Fire, off of Chihuahua Valley Road near the community of Sunshine Summit, is now 40 acres & 50% contained. Acreage decrease today is due to more accurate mapping. Yesterday the fire was burning south toward Highway 79, but the spread of the fire has slowed. There are no structures threatened. Full containment of the fire is expected later today. The fire was reported at 4:22 p.m.
The Border Fire, off of Tierra Real Lane near the community of Boulevard, was 100% contained at 15 acres on Friday. The fire was originally reported at 4:24 p.m.
The Cain Fire, north of the Manzanita Indian Reservation was 100% contained at 1 acre on Friday. There were no structures threatened and the fire was reported at 2:33 p.m.
The Lucky Fire, off of Sunrise Highway in Mt. Laguna was 100% contained at 1/4 acre Friday. There were no structures threatened and the fire was reported at 3:02 p.m.
The fire is burning in light grass, and is approximately 1/3 of the way up Granite Mountain, heading toward the Pacific Coast Trail. With a 5-10 mph east wind, the fire is burning slowly to the west away from structures.
