Riverside County - Near Granite Hill and Quartz Canyon, north of Hwy 60 in the Glen Avon area.
Firefighters are on scene of a wildland fire north of Hy 60 in the Glen Avon area. First arriving engine company reported approximately two acres burning in light to medium fuels pushed by a 15 mph southwest wind. Riverside County Sheriff's are in the process of evacuating the Santiago Estates Mobile Home Park. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
UPDATE 2:00 p.m. Fire is approximately 20 acres burning in a northeast direction. No injuries reported. Sheriffs evacuated 32 of the 126 mobile homes in the park.
Update 2:50 p.m.: Fire is now approximately 40 acres.
UPDATE 4:00 p.m.: Fire is now approximately 60 acres. Firefighters and firefighting resources will remain on scene well into the night. This is a wind-driven fire that continues to burn in a northeast direction with 15 mhp westerly winds, with gusts to 25 mhp and 25% relative humidity.
UPDATE Fire is approximately 300 acres and 25% contained. Firefighters will remain at the scene throughout the night and tomorrow.
UPDATE 9:30 p.m.: Fire is still 300 acres and now 30% contained and burning toward the San Bernardino County Line.
UPDATE 04:30 a.m.05/13/10: Fire is approximately 500 acres and now 100% contained. A day shift is assigned consisting of three Type 3 engines, two Type I engines and four Fire Crews. No injuries or property damage reported.
