Road closures have been lifted, however the public is encouraged to use caution when traveling through the area as firefighters, equipment, and utility companies may be working on or near the highway and side roads. NorCal Team II transitioned out of Unified Command today. CAL FIRE and the Forest Service will continue to manage the fire.

Suppression Repair - Crews and equipment will be completing “suppression repair” work to reduce erosion potential from fire line construction or other damage from the fire suppression activities. Water bars or “speed bumps” are built across the fire lines to funnel future rain runoff off the line. Brush and shrubs will be pulled back onto the fireline to reduce erosion as well. This work is expected to be completed by the end of September/early October.

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 5:28 pm Fire managers are expected to declare the Bullards Fire 100% contained at 6:00 pm tonight. Containment does not mean the fire is "out," it means a solid line is surrounding the fire and no further growth will occur. The focus now shifts to suppression rehabilitation while demobilization of excess resources is occurring.
The fire started on Friday afternoon and the cause is still under investigation. Only one firefighter sustained a reportable injury (broken foot) during the incident.

Crews working throughout the night discovered a spot fire outside of the fires perimeter. The spot fire only grew to 20 feet by 75 feet in size and fire line was constructed immediately to stop its spread. All evacuations and road closures have been lifted; however, Oregon Hill Road is open with controlled access. The public is encouraged to use caution when traveling through the fire area, as firefighters, utility crews, and large equipment operators may be working on or near the highway and side roads. Bullards Bar recreation areas and campgrounds are also open.

Monday, August 30, 2010 6:35 pm Containment now up to 80%. Demobilization of excess resources s ongoing. The whole fire is now lined with firehose, helicopters continue to work hotspots. The incident commanders are optimistic that containment goals can be met. Planning for fire line rehabilitation has been completed and accepted by all agencies.
Monday, August 30, 2010 3:22 pm The boat ramps at both Emerald Cove and Dark Day are now open for those wishing to slide their watercrafts into the crisp water.
Campgrounds adjacent to the reservoir including Hornswoggle and Schoolhouse campgrounds have also been reopened.
Most roads in the Bullards Fire are now open including the Marysville Road and Moonshine Road. The Oregon Hill Road is also open but with cautions as fire equipment may be on the roadway. County Road 169 remains closed.

The 60KV power lines on Oregon Hill road are no longer threatened and have been re-energized. Along the western edge of the reservoir, the fire continued to spot and back down toward Oregon Hill Road.
Weather outlook for tomorrow is partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers. Humidity will be 33% with a high of 69 degrees. Light winds in the morning with moderate gusts to 15 mph in the afternoon.

From the Yuba County OES: It appears those who evacuated out of the Bullards Bar fire zone were able to find accommodations on their own and did not require the shelter services at Camptonville School. That shelter was established by the American Red Cross in coordination with the Yuba County Office of Emergency Services. In order to make better use of resources, that shelter location has been closed and anyone needing shelter may contact the Red Cross directly by calling 751-3331.
Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 12:38 pm This morning Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a Proclamation of a State of Emergency for Yuba County. A copy arrived at the Yuba County Office of Emergency Services at noon today. The proclamation came after Yuba County officials declared a local State of Emergency. It will allow agencies to receive some reimbursement of the costs associated with fighting the fire at Bullards Bar.
