Location: Birch Creek Canyon near Swall Meadows - off lower Rock Creek Rd. INF is managing the Birch fire

Size: 2,500 acres

Containment: 100%

Significant Events: Highway 395 remains open with Lower and Upper Rock Creek Roads expected to be opened this evening to local merchants and residents. Residents and merchants evacuated from Rock Creek may be allowed to return at 2000 hrs if conditions allow. USFS campgrounds to remain closed until this morning at 1000 hrs.

Remarks: Conrad's T2 Incident Management Team transitioned yesterday morning at 0600. Crews made significant progress during this operational period. Local residents and merchants will be permitted into area this evening beginning at 1800 hrs for Swall Meadow, and 2000 hrs for the Rock Creek Area.

Observed Fire Behavior: Moderate fire activity observed in interior islands. As the anticipated afternoon winds increased, a spot fire occurred outside of the line in Div. Y and was picked up by air and ground crews.

Planned Actions: Continue to provide structure protection as required. Construct and improve fire line, and mop-up hot spots.

Structures Threatened: 200 PRIM, 2 COMM

Structures Destroyed:NONE
