SAN FRANCISCO, March 4 2009 - Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) in San Francisco today kicked off a home raffle featuring a luxurious $2.4 million dream house, making it the most expensive home ever raffled off in California. The magnificent residence is located just steps away from Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, a city consistently rated as one of the best places to live because of its mild climate, vibrant cultural scene and world-class restaurants.
A $150 raffle ticket buys a chance to win the 4,000 square foot Edwardian home with its detached 2 bedroom/2 bath guesthouse. Raffle participants are also eligible for thousands of dollars in cash and other prizes. Proceeds from the raffle benefit Yerba Buena Center for the Arts--an internationally respected arts center located in the heart of San Francisco's cultural district.
"As an arts center, we are looking for innovative ways to raise funds during these challenging economic times," says Kenneth J. Foster, YBCA's Executive Director. "Proceeds go to our general operating fund which helps us present artists and public programs that make San Francisco such a vibrant place to live."
The newly constructed home features the charming Edwardian exterior so indicative of San Francisco neighborhoods, with the added bonus of desirable modern amenities, including a 4 car garage, chef's kitchen and mahogany floors. From its upper floors, the 4 bedroom/4.5 bath home offers views of the stunning tree canopy of Golden Gate Park. The 2 bedroom/2 bath guesthouse has a separate entrance across a private courtyard and is perfect for visiting family.
A limit of thirty-seven thousand $150 raffle tickets will be sold from March 1, 2009 through the July 10, 2009 deadline. The grand prize drawing takes place on July 25, 2009 when the grand prize ticket holder will choose between the $2.4 million dream home and $1.8 million cash. As an incentive to purchase tickets early, the raffle also includes three early bird drawings for cash prizes up to $25,000 for tickets purchased before three deadlines on April 3, May 1 and May 29. Odds are 1-in-100 to win a prize worth $300 or more; in fact, the YBCA raffle will give away prizes worth more in cash value than any previous home charity raffle in California.
