09/29/02 10:09 AM A vegetation fire started around 4.06 pm at Cherry Creek Acres near Alta Sierra. Acreage: 15-20 acres; 100% contained Current situation: Very heavy initial attack efforts managed to contain this vegetation fire rapidly. Structure protection was a major concern; this fire had the potential to threaten over 1,000 homes in Alta Sierra. Resources on site: Striketeams from Placer, Nevada and Yuba County, striketeams with dozers, engines and handcrews, 15-20 overhead personnel and crews from local fire stations. Aerial resources: 5 airtankers, 2 helicopters and 1 airtac plane. Traffic restrictions are in effect due to the fire; East Lime Kiln and Alexandria Rd. are open to residents only. No evacuations at this time.
