Fire Location: The fire is located approximately 6 miles east of Foresthill, California in Placer County. Date of containment is 9/9/03 at 6:00 PM.

Current situation: The Codfish Fire is approximately 830 acres and is 100% contained. The fire is located in a steep, remote canyon six miles northeast of Foresthill, California.

Burn out operations and contingency lines have been completed and are holding. Firefighters are patrolling and putting out hot spots.   Rehabilitation efforts on areas of the fire that have been damaged by fire suppression activities continue.  There is no immediate threat to residences, or other structures at this time.  Large fuels (1000 hr.) continue to smolder. All fires in the Cod Complex with the exception of Codfish have been controlled.

No immediate threats to residences, or other structures exist at this time.

  • 24 Engines
  • 12 Crews
  • 14 Water Tenders
  • 8 Dozers
  • 4 Helicopters

Injuries to Firefighters: 2 (dehydration and beesting)

Fire Weather and Behavior Forecast:

A drier northwest flow is forecast to develop on Monday. Another weakening weather system will spread high clouds late Monday night and early Tuesday.  Expect fire to be relatively inactive today with burnout completed and high nighttime humidity’s the last two nights.
