NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, Eric Rood Administrative Center, 950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City, California, the Transit Services Commission for Western Nevada County (TSC) will conduct a public hearing on proposed changes to Gold Country Stage routes and schedules.
The proposed changes are being considered in order to address a projected budget shortfall in Fiscal Year 2008-09 and subsequent years, in order to improve the overall performance and efficiency of the bus service by reducing or eliminating service that does not meet minimum performance standards. Proposed changes include:
- Discontinuation of Route 12 (Colfax)
- Changes in the Route 10 (North San Juan) schedule to three times daily, Monday - Friday.
- Discontinuation of Route 1 Evening Service from 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
The Transit Services Commission is the governing body for Transit Services in western Nevada County pursuant to a joint powers agreement among the County of Nevada, Grass Valley and Nevada City. If approved by the TSC, the service modifications would be implemented on or about October 6, 2008. The hearing is intended to give the public an opportunity to comment to the TSC on the proposed modifications prior to final decisions being made.
A copy of the staff report outlining the various proposed changes is on file and available for public review at the Nevada County Department of Public Works, second floor, east wing, of the Eric Rood Administrative Center. The staff report is a complete description of the proposed Gold Country Stage route and schedule changes. The report is also available on-line at www.goldcountrystage.com.
