NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Proposed Gold Country Stage Bus Service Fare Policy Changes
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. at the Grass Valley City Hall, City Council Chambers, 125 East Main Street, Grass Valley, California, the Transit Services Commission (TSC) for Western Nevada County will conduct a public hearing on proposed changes to Gold Country Stage fare policies.
The proposed changes are being considered in order to address a projected budget shortfall in Fiscal Year 2008/09, and subsequent years, to provide additional operational revenue, and provide adequate farebox revenue to satisfy the State Transportation Development Act (TDA) mandated ten percent farebox recovery ratio. Proposed fare policy changes include across-the-board increases in cash fares, discount fares, daily and monthly pass fares, and zone fares systemwide.
The Transit Services Commission is the governing body for transit services in western Nevada County pursuant to a joint powers agreement among the County of Nevada, Grass Valley and Nevada City. If approved by the TSC, the changes in fare policies would be implemented on or about December 31, 2008. The hearing is intended to give the public an opportunity to comment to the TSC on the proposed modifications prior to final decisions being made.
A copy of the staff report outlining the proposed changes is on file and available for public review at the Nevada County Department of Public Works, Second Floor, Suite 290, of the Eric Rood Administrative Center. The report is also available on-line at www.goldcountrystage.com.
