A vegetation fire started at approx. 2.50pm on Saturday, August 31st near Kanaka Valley Road near Rescue, CA.
Acreage: 776 acres
Containment: 100% - full containment
Cause: Human caused - two juveniles were spotted running from the scene, one of the juveniles was cited for starting the fire and is currently in custody. The second juvenile was released to his parents.

Latest update: The fire was buning in manzanita, chamise, grass and oak woodland. Hand crews and dozers made good progress during the night. Limited access, steep terrain, heavy fuels, high temperatures and low humidity have made fire fighting difficult.
Evacuations: None at this time.
One home and one outbuilding confirmed lost.
Three minor injuries to firefighters due to heat exhaustion, one other injury .
Road closures: Portion of Kanaka Valley Road
