Wanted: Active, Eco-Minded Individual to Better Our Beaches
Barefoot(R) Wine 'Foots the Bill' for your Summer Dream Job with the Surfrider Foundation

By: Barefoot Wine

MODESTO, Calif., May 6 - Is your desk job feeling a little 'blah'? Are you dreaming about surfing a great swell instead of surfing the Internet? Want to spend some of your vacation days helping the beach instead of just sitting on it? If you are up for exciting new challenges and want to help maintain the health of our beautiful beaches and coastlines, then this is the summer dream job for you!

Barefoot Wine, known for making award-winning California wines and the Surfrider Foundation, a grassroots not-for-profit environmental organization dedicated to preserving the world's oceans, waves and beaches, are granting someone the chance to take a hiatus from the daily grind and learn the ropes of environmental activism from experts in the field. As part of the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project(TM), an initiative to keep America's beaches "barefoot-friendly," Barefoot Wine is 'footing the bill' for a talented beach enthusiast to spend a week working with the Surfrider Foundation in San Clemente, California during summer 2008.

Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers in Malibu, the Surfrider Foundation now maintains over 50,000 members and 80 chapters worldwide. Almost everyone at Surfrider Foundation is a non-paid volunteer, except for fewer than 35 full-time, modestly paid staff.

"After spending our summer hosting beach cleanups, dune restorations and educational coastal tours with the Surfrider Foundation, we learned that members were contributing up to 20 hours a week on top of their professional day jobs," said Jeremy Soine, Marketing Manager for Barefoot Wine. "The Surfrider Foundation is passionate about beach preservation, and we're thrilled to provide the resources to help someone else work with them this summer."

Barefoot Wine's Summer Dream Job will offer hands-on experience in ocean water quality and organized beach cleanups as well as instruction in grassroots awareness campaigns. Entries will be judged by the staff at the Surfrider Foundation based on past environmental experience, relevant skills and proven dedication to the cause. Along with being compensated financially, the recipient will receive a trip to California, including airfare, beachside housing and ground transportation.

If you are ready to kick off your shoes and roll up your sleeves, now is your chance. Ocean-minded applicants 21 years of age and older can visit www.BarefootWine.com/BeachRescue to download the application. Applications must be mailed to the Surfrider Foundation at the following address no later than June 30, 2008.

"I am one of those lucky people who wakes up in the morning excited to start my work day," said Matt McClain, Director of Marketing and Communications for Surfrider Foundation. I'm stoked for Barefoot's Wine's Summer Dream Job recipient to ride the waves with us and make a positive impact on our continuous efforts to protect our shores."

Barefoot's award-winning California wines are attractively priced and can be found in playful, colorful cases and bottles bearing the iconic footprint label. Barefoot's still wine portfolio includes eight unique offerings: Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, White Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Zinfandel.
