Ashok Khosla and Julia Marton-Lefevre: Statement on IPCC science

Feb. 8, 2010 - "Recent weeks have witnessed several attempts at international fora and in the media to question the science of climate change and to cast doubts on the findings of the IPCC, which have been produced and endorsed by a very large body of the world's foremost scientists. Some of these have even included personal attacks on the leadership of IPCC.
Good science is, by its very nature, a process of close scrutiny, open criticism and vigorous debate. At the same time, there is growing evidence that the Earth's climate is changing rapidly, with serious potential consequences for life on the planet. It is IUCN's considered opinion that even the possibility that these consequences might take place is far too serious to be addressed in a manner that undermines the core findings of the IPCC reports.
IUCN wishes to endorse the work of the IPCC and its leaders and urges the global community to focus on finding solutions to the crises we face, as the impact of climate change affects the entire community of life. The science the IPCC provides is critical in this search for solutions."
