Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) today made the following statement after the Senate voted unanimously to confirm Leon Panetta as the next Secretary of Defense:
"Leon Panetta is a proven and trusted leader when it comes to the safety and security of our nation. In every job he's held – whether in Congress, at the White House or at the CIA – he has served with integrity and distinction, and I am confident he is the right person to lead the Defense Department in these challenging times."
