A vegetation fire broke out on Friday at 2:04 pm southeast of Colfax on Weimar Rd south of I-80 and north of the American River.West side of the north fork.
Size : 2,780 acres
Cause: vehicle caused
Containment: 100+%
Control: Full control expected 8-23-01 at 8:00p.m.

100% of the fire has been contained within control lines. Fire lines were constructed along Gillis Hill ridge and were joined with Iowa Hill Road. Cooler temperatures and slightly higher humidity as predicted, assisted the firefighters with the fire control efforts. Firefighters have stopped the progression of the fire and are concentrating today's resources on improving the fire control lines and mopping up now controlled areas.
200 residences and 100 outbuildings were threatened by the fire, NONE was lost!
A flare-up occured on Sunday, causing injuries to several firefighters assigned to battle the blaze.
Fire Incident Commanders have adjusted control line locations due to the extreme steep terrain on this section of the fire. Fire activity and resulting smoke observed in the area today was a result of planned suppression activities..
A Type I Management Team (McLean) is managing this incident.
