A vegetation fire started near the community of Concow off Fire perimeterHwy70, seventeen miles east of Oroville in the North Fork of the Feather River at 8.41 am on September 6, 2001.

Current Size: 8,333 acres

Estimated control: 09/14 at 6:00 pm

Cause: Snag falling on powerlines

Latest update: Fire resources continue to be demobilized and either returned to their home units or dispatched to other fires. Rehabilitation of the area is ongoing and is expected to continue for 4-5 days beyond the date of control. An interagency team of 19 people from CDF, American Red Cross and the Redding Fire Department have been inspecting and mapping property damage. resulting from the Poe Fire.The damage inspection is 90% complete. The final damage inspection report is expected to be completed on Saturday, September 15,2001.

All personnel assisting citizens displaced by the Poe Fire wish to thank the evacuees for their patience and understanding.

The Butte County Board of Supervisors has declared a local state of emergency in a proclamation distributed by Butte County Board of Supervisors Chairman Curt Josiassen.

Structures damaged: 3 homes and 1 commercial building.

Structures lost: 40 homes (including mobile homes), 152 outbuildings, 2 commercial building, 146 vehicles

Resources threatened: Timber, Watershed and Wildlife habitat.

Injuries: 22

CDF Major Incident Command Team #4 (Loyde Johnson) has transitioned in to handle fire.

Cost to date: $5,300,000

Agencies involved: CDF, Chico Fire, Paradise and Oroville, Butte County Sheriff, CHP and Red Cross.
