August Events Roundup for Tahoe Donner

Truckee, Calif. August 1, 2013 – It's the peak of summer and there are plenty of events taking place at Tahoe Donner throughout August including another wet and wild Waterpalooza event, mountain bike camps, equestrian camps and more. Fall is also right around the corner and excitement is building for one of our biggest events of the year, Fall Festival. Following is a list of what's coming up at Tahoe Donner's restaurants and amenities. All are open to the public.

Tahoe Donner Recreation Program Events:

Aug. 10-11: Waterpalooza


Tahoe Donner's third annual Waterpalooza is a two-day summer celebration of water-themed fun and games, a mega slip'n slide, and pool facilities. It all happens at Tahoe Donner's Trout Creek Recreation Center and driving range August 10-11. As an added bonus, The Truckee Donner Public Utility District will also be holding a free toilet exchange on Saturday, August 10. Cost is $15 for an unlimited wristband or $1 per ticket; food, games and ride ticket prices vary. For more information call 530-587-9437 or www.Tahoedonner.com/rec-programs.

Tahoe Donner Bikeworks

Tahoe Donner Bikeworks rentals, and guided rides

Looking for something fun to do? Rent some bikes and explore the area! Tahoe Donner Bikeworks offers bike rentals and guided rides on its extensive trail system, with a home base at the Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center offering easy access into the pristine Euer Valley. The bike fleet is stocked with a variety of Giant brand bikes from road bikes, comfort bikes and hard tails to full-suspension mountain bikes. Aug. 10-11: Kid's Mountain Bike Camps at Tahoe Donner's Bikeworks

Open to kids ages 10-18 who can ride a bike for one and a half hours at a time, these camps run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10-11. The focus is on providing a fun, safe environment where kids can improve their general mountain biking skills while exploring the trails of Tahoe Donner. Guides have years of experience teaching kids to become better riders. Cost for the camp is $80 per child. Rentals are available for a separate cost if needed. Day Camp

Aug. 5-9 and Aug. 12-16: CILT (Campers in Leadership Training)


Campers in Leadership Training is an intensive five-day program in which your camper will experience all that leadership training has to offer. Campers will be required to keep a journal of daily notes and thoughts about their experience. This is an experiential-based learning program in which the campers will participate in in-depth team-building, wilderness medicine, leadership development, outdoor living skills, hands-on camp counselor experience and personal growth. Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center

Aug. 9 and Aug. 23: Cowgirls and Cocktails Ride


On select Fridays, cowgirls are invited to gather for an early evening trail ride followed by beer, wine and appetizers on the deck at the Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center. Cowboys welcome too! Enjoy a meandering trail ride through highland meadows and forests and then relax on our deck overlooking another beautiful meadow, nibbling on appetizers and sipping a frosty beer or glass of wine. It's a great way to kick off the weekend! Trail ride is from 5-6 p.m. followed by drinks and appetizers from 6-7 p.m. This event is for adults ages 21 and up. Aug. 3, Aug. 17, Aug. 31: Saturday Night Barbecue

The Saturday Night Barbecue is a family favorite and sure to delight the young and young-at-heart. The fun begins at 5 p.m. with games, wagon rides, crafts, contests, dress-up and a delicious gourmet barbecue. Play a game of horseshoes or try your hand at throwing a rope. Bring the camera for pictures at the dress-up photo station with Old West and Renaissance costumes and backdrops. A family water balloon toss finishes off the evening. On the menu are hot dogs, veggie burgers and hamburgers with an extensive topping bar. Ranch beans, salads, desserts and campfire s'mores round out the menu. Complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks are also served. Reservations are required with a 72-hour cancellation policy. Aug. 26- Sept. 30: After-School Group Lesson

New this fall, after-school group lessons are offered in late August and September for beginner through intermediate riders ages 8 and up who ride Western or English (non-jumping). Adults are welcome but classes will be mostly children. Students will groom, saddle, ride and unsaddle in each session. The lessons are offered August 26 through September 30, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The costis $75 per session for members ($70 for Tahoe Donner residents). Sept. 14: Pony Pajama Party

Kids will also love the Pony Pajama Party that is scheduled for Sept. 14. This event includes a fun afternoon of horsey activities including riding, horse decorating, games and crafts with a kid's barbecue in the evening followed by movies and a cozy indoor camp-out. Breakfast will be served the next morning before the 9 a.m. pick-up. The Pony Pajama Party is for kids ages 8-14 and will take place Saturday, Sept. 14, at 1:30 p.m. The cost is $110 ($90 for Tahoe Donner residents). Reservations are required. Tahoe Donner Golf

Golf Clinics


A variety of clinics offered this summer through the end of September include chipping/pitching, bunker/sand basics, putting, driving and full-swing irons. There are clinics for juniors as well as an introduction to golf for beginners. Clinics are approximately one hour and run daily through the end of September. The Lodge Restaurant & Pub:

Full Lunch Menu through Sept. 2

Enjoy lunch out on the new deck, served daily at The Lodge Restaurant & Pub from 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. through Sept. 2.

Music on the Porch: Wednesdays, through Aug. 28

Every Wednesday, a different artist will play live music from 6-9 p.m. on the porch at Tahoe Donner's Lodge Restaurant & Pub.

Kids and adults—bring a favorite pillow and blanket to Northwoods Clubhouse, kick back, and enjoy both classic and new movies. Movie nights begin at 6:30 p.m. and the films are rated G and PG. Through August 30 at 8:30 p.m., immediately following family movie night, the outdoor movie theater opens at Northwoods Clubhouse for the "Late Show." A sweater or warm blanket is recommended. June 24: Monday Night Bingo
