September 8, 2010 - The Nevada County Wine Guild’s founder, Tony Norskog, is opening a new kind of wine tasting room on Zion Street in Nevada City. With a degree in Enology from UC Davis and 25 years of wine making, he has decided to try something new.

Said Norskog, “I have always had a keen interest in adding ecofriendly elements to my wine making efforts. Our winery’s primary products have led the way in organic offerings including the ever popular Our Daily Red and Orleans Hill labels which are available both locally and nationally.”

“There are many elements involved in producing this exceptional California product in a way that is good for the environment as well as the consumer. One significant aspect is the glass bottle, primarily made in China and Mexico, disposed of by the billions every year. An important element in our concept is to offer a quality, moderately priced wine in a bottle that can be refilled for our customer at a discounted price. Our slogan is SAVE A BOTTLE, SAVE A BUCK. While recycling is great, reuse is even better.” continued Norskog.

Said store manager, Paul Matson, “Another key feature is our sensitivity to our customers in this down economy. To start we are offering two wines in bulk, a table red and a select zinfandel, both moderately priced. In addition to that, there are significant financial incentives in bringing back the original bottle (and bag) for reuse. We like our location in Nevada City’s Seven Hills Business District, we have a great product, and hope that this will be a successful operation that is fun and convenient for our customers.”
