Body found in Sequoia National Park - Search for missing hiker suspended

August 10, 2013 - On August 10, 2013, a body was recovered in the Mineral King area of Sequoia National Park. The body was found approximately 1,000 feet above Monarch Lake, just below a portion of the Sawtooth Trail.
Due to this recent development, the search for missing hiker Johnnie Jean Daniel has been temporarily suspended pending identification of the body.
The search and rescue operation has been managed by Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, in cooperation with the Tulare County Sheriff's Office and Yosemite Search and Rescue.
