Nevada City, November 1, 2013 - Clifford Newell, Nevada County District Attorney, has filed formal charges against former Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff Donald Black. Black is charged by way of Complaint with 5 felony counts alleging violations of Penal Code section 288(c)(1) (Lewd or Lascivious Act with a Child of 14 or 15 years). He is also charged with violating Health and Safety Code section 11377(b)(1) (Unauthorized Possession of Anabolic Steroids) in four misdemeanor counts.
On September 24, 2013, Black was arrested on one count of Penal Code section 288(c). He was released from custody after posting bail in the amount of $100,000.
Based upon the continuing investigation of Nevada County Sheriff's Office and further review of the victim's statements and evidence seized, the District Attorney's Office believes there is sufficient evidence to prove that the conduct alleged was not an isolated incident, but rather multiple acts occurring in 2006 and 2007 at Black's home just outside the city limits of Grass Valley.
He will be arraigned at 9 a.m. on Monday, November 4.
