January 24, 2012 - A local highway safety advocacy group, Citizens for Highway 49 Safety, has announced their endorsement of First District Supervisor Nate Beason for reelection. Spokesman Bruce Jones stated, "Nate's dedication, leadership and energy to secure funding for Highway 49 safety improvements have had a tremendous effect on making the highway a much safer road to travel."
Beason, one of the county's two representatives on the Nevada County Transportation Commission, has been a strong advocate for improving the condition of the highway, and he has worked with the California Highway Patrol to arrange increased CHP presence on Highway 49.
Beason said that he is honored by the citizens' endorsement. "The expressions of support I'm receiving from a wide variety of organizations and individuals across the community spectrum have been encouraging," Beason said.
Beason has been endorsed also by the Nevada County Deputy Sheriffs Association and the CDF Firefighters of Nevada, Yuba and Placer counties.
