City of Grass Valley Gives Idaho-Maryland Mine an April 8, 2011 Deadline

By: Don Pelton, Sierra Voices

GRASS VALLEY, Calif. Nov. 3, 2010 - Joe Heckel, City of Grass Valley Development Director, on October 22, 2010 sent a letter to David Watkinson, President and CEO of Idaho-Maryland Mining Corporation, giving the mining company until April 8, 2011 to submit "an updated application package and the appropriate funding" for processing its project, or else the city would "consider the application withdrawn and no longer active."

This letter appears to be in response to David Watkinson's letter to the city (http://sierravoices.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/David_Watkinson_Letter_09_16_2010.pdf) dated September 15, 2010, first reported here on October 22, 2010.

Joe Heckel's letter also mentions the need for recirculating a revised Environmental Impact Report (EIR):

" … in light of the length of time that has passed since the initial public review period, it is likely that the Draft EIR … would need to be recirculated for a new public review period."
