Fatal traffic collision in Truckee

November 27, 2012 - On 11/24/2012 Truckee Police Department and Truckee Fire Protection District responded to a traffic collision at Donner Pass Rd. and McIvers Roundabout in the Downtown area of Truckee. Several bystanders were providing first aid to a bicyclist that had struck a vehicle. Fire Department paramedics took over care of the bicyclist. The bicyclist was transported to Tahoe Forest Hospital where he was pronounced deceased from major injuries suffered in the collision.

Truckee PD's continues to investigate this collision. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be involved in this collision. The traffic investigation unit asks that anyone who was a witness to contact Sgt. Womack at (530) 550-2335.

The bicyclist, Robert Koechlin age 45, was a resident of Los Gatos, California and was visiting the area. His family has been notified.
