SERENE LAKES - Meadow Vista businessman Bob Houston has endorsed Jennifer Montgomery for Placer County District 5 Supervisor in her bid to unseat incumbent Bruce Kranz in November. Houston, who was part of a three-way race and campaigned on a platform of conservative fiscal leadership and protecting Placer County's rural lifestyle, picked up 22 percent of the vote this past June. Montgomery was the top vote-getter with 41% and faces Kranz, who garnered 37% of the vote, in a runoff.

Houston and Montgomery attended many forums and community events together during the spring campaign and met several times this summer to discuss the challenges facing the next District 5 Supervisor. Houston said he came away impressed with Montgomery's work ethic as well as her willingness to listen and learn the issues.

"I've come to know Jennifer as a woman of character. I know she'll be a dedicated responsive public servant who will always stay focused on representing the people of Placer County, first and foremost, and I'm proud to endorse her," said Houston.

Montgomery said she and Houston share many of the same values. "Bob ran a principled campaign, focusing on the needs of the community, protecting of our rural way of life, and adhering to sound fiscal policy. I share those values. I am honored to have his endorsement."

Houston's endorsement was actively sought by both campaigns. Montgomery said reaching out to his voters has been a priority for her over the summer. "Obviously, Bob's message resonated with a huge chunk of voters. During my talks with folks over the summer I find that when they hear our message they appreciate the similarities in approach to representation that Bob and I share," Montgomery said.

Houston's endorsement capped a busy summer for Montgomery, which she spent attending Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) meetings, community events and reaching out to voters. Several prominent Houston endorsers also have thrown their support to Montgomery including Auburn publisher Janice Forbes, Auburn businesswoman Joanne Neft, North Tahoe businessman Roger Kahn, and Foresthill attorney Brian Connelly.

"I actively supported Bob Houston because of his reputation as a problem-solver and his expertise in working on significant policy and fiscal matters," explained Neft. "I'm thrilled that Bob is throwing his support behind Jennifer Montgomery since his reason for getting into the race was to provide personal and close attention to fifth-district constituents, a central theme in Jennifer's campaign."
