By: Rick Haffey via Nevada County Friday Memo

January 18, 2013 - The Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) will be hosting free tax preparation assistance and e-filing of simple returns (some restrictions apply) at scheduled drop in clinics in January and February, and by appointment during regular business hours through March 2013. This service is being provided to promote community awareness of the Earned Income Tax Credit available to low to moderate income individuals and families earning less than $50,270 annually. You may be eligible for this credit even if you are not required to file an income tax return.

Free tax preparation and e-filing dates are:

9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26th and February 9th, 2013
2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday February 6th and February 13th, 2013

For more information you may contact DCSS at (530) 265-7124 or stop by our office at the Eric Rood Building, 950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City, CA 95959. The DCSS reception desk is located within the Department of Social Services office, entrance on the west end of the building.
