GRASS VALLEY, CA Oct. 6, 2008 - The Grass Valley Police announce today that plans have been finalized for a Traffic Calming Block Party to be held on Thursday, October 9th beginning at 5:30pm at the intersection of High Street and West Main Street.
The purpose of this event is to celebrate the launch of new traffic calming signs in the Nob Hill, Bell Hill, Townsend, and Scotia Pines neighborhoods. The block party is the opening ceremony to the finalized Traffic Calming Project initiated last spring.
Residents of these neighborhoods have undoubtedly seen the traffic calming signs now posted in their neighborhoods. The next step is to begin educating drivers and residents about the dangers of speeding in neighborhoods, and to implement the needed measures to make our community safer for everyone.
The event will include hotdogs and hamburgers provided by Grass Valley City Council Member Chauncey Poston. Residents attending may feel free to bring a side dish to pass. Any questions regarding the event may be directed to Officers Alex Gammelgard and Deborah Bayer of The Grass Valley Police Department @ 530.477.4600.
