July 8, 2012 - This morning Sierra County deputy sheriffs placed male suspect Adam A. MALIK, aged 33 years of the San Diego and Davis areas, under arrest - a week after he reportedly brandished a weapon in North San Juan and then attempted to drive in reverse over a deputy sheriff on SR-49 just north of Downieville, ramming a patrol car.
Those investigations are still pending by Nevada County and State of California D.O.J. investigators. Sierra County Superior Court Judge John P. Kennelly issued a felony arrest warrant on July 3rd in the amount of $500,000 for the charge of attempted murder of a peace officer, Penal Code 664/187, for the offense committed in Sierra County early on July 1st.
Suspect MALIK had been under 24 hour watch by Sierra County deputy sheriffs pending his release from the hospital in Chico, CA.
This morning our deputy sheriffs placed Suspect MALIK under arrest on the warrant and he was released from the hospital, having recuperated.
Suspect MALIK is currently being housed at the Nevada County Jail in Nevada City on the Sierra County warrant. He is pending arraignment and is presumed to be innocent unless and/or until proven guilty.
