Independents Endorse Charlie Brown for Congress
Nation's largest organization for Independent/Decline to State (DTS) voters applauds Retired USAF Lt. Col.'s commitment to problem solving - not partisanship

By: Charlie Brown for Congress

Roseville May 8, 2008 - Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Charlie Brown today received the endorsement of IndependentMovement.org PAC---the nation's largest organization representing "Decline to State" voters.

"Independents know Washington is broken and partisan politics is the reason," said Independent Movement Co-Chair Jim Mangia. "That's why we're proud to stand with Retired Lt. Col. Charlie Brown--a battle tested, independent minded leader who has dedicated his life to serving our country, and putting patriotism before partisanship."

Mangia is also a Founding Member of the Reform Party, and served as National Spokesperson for Ross Perot's 1996 Presidential Campaign.

"So many of America's problems-like runaway deficits, rising gas prices, a mismanaged foreign policy, a broken healthcare system, and neglect of America's veterans are not new and they aren't partisan," Mangia said. "Unlike the well healed career politicians running in District four, Charlie Brown isn't spending his time casting blame--he's focused on bringing people together to solve problems---and that's what America needs right now."

Mangia noted Brown's historic "Promises Kept Veterans Charity Challenge," as an example of the positive, action oriented leadership that Independents are looking for in 2008. Brown has given away over $20,000 to local veterans service providers already, and has been setting aside 5% of every dollar raised since September of 2007 to help District Four's returning warriors.

IndependentMovement.org has nearly 150,000 members. There are more than 72,000 Independents, or "Decline to State" voters in California's 4th District, and they comprise the fastest growing segment of the electorate.

"Independents don't just want change, we want leaders who take action instead of making excuses," Magnia added. "It was Charlie Brown's battle tested experience, and his commitment to solving problems made us view CA 04 as ground zero in the effort to get past partisan politics, so we can get our country back on track."

Brown, a Democrat who used to be a Republican, issued the following statement: "I'm proud of the coalition for change we are building in this campaign. Moving this district forward and strengthening our country means bringing people of all stripes together---Democrats, Republicans, and Independents---to take action and create solutions to the challenges we share. Ultimately, our security, our economy, and our children's future demand nothing less of us."

Charlie Brown, Lt. Col. Ret spent 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a rescue helicopter and reconnaissance pilot, and working with intelligence collection assets around the world-including Iraq. His decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, 7 Air Medals, 5 Meritorious Service Medals, and a Sikorsky Winged S. He is also a credentialed California teacher, former professional staff-member at the Roseville Police Department, and is a Candidate for Congress in California's 4th District.
