Investigation reveals the cause of the Knight Fire

Sonora, Calif. November 10, 2009 - A two month-long investigation by U.S. Forest Service Special Agents and Fire Investigators have revealed the cause of the Knight Fire. Investigators revealed that the Knight Fire was started by activities associated with outdoor recreation in a steep drainage below the Mt. Knight area on the Stanislaus National Forest. Specific evidence as to the origin of the fire is being withheld for investigative purposes, however evidence found at the scene clearly shows the fire was a result of human activity.

Investigators are seeking help from anyone with further information regarding vehicles and/or persons seen in the area of the intersection of National Forest System roads 4N01Y and 4N01 on, or before, July 26th.
