From YubaNet.com Regional October 15, 2008, Plumas County, Calif. - Towns in Plumas County delight residents and visitors alike with their own distinctive characters and flavors. The valleys and evergreen forests of the landscape, the winter storms, and historical tales connect us to this place, while the shops and restaurants, the local merchants, philanthropists, artists, and musicians sustain us. These unique natural and human elements of our mountain towns make these mountains home, and we want to celebrate it. "What we like about Sierra Business Council's take on the Local First program is that it's positive - it's all about supporting each other and the community." Elizabeth Powell, Plumas Rural Services. This holiday season local and independently owned businesses will have the opportunity to celebrate their business by joining the Think Local First business network and purchasing a Retail Kit. The initial contents of this kit include a storefront window decal branding your business as local and independent, 50 point-of-sale thank you cards, as well as the Think Local First electronic logo bringing widespread visibility to materials and products. These and many more local and regional benefits exist for business owner participation in Think Local First beginning this fall. By supporting and celebrating our locally rooted enterprises we are working to secure and sustain our rural economy, environment, and community vitality. Questions about obtaining a retail kit, or other possibilities for participating in the Think Local Program please contact Sierra Business Council's Leah Seagraves at (530) 582-4800, or via email at lseagraves@sbcouncil.org.
