July 2, 2009 - On 7/1/09, The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit, with the assistance of the Department of Justice Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (CAMP) and Mountain And Valley Marijuana Investigation Team (MAVMIT), U.S. Forest Service, Fish and Game, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.), conducted a series of raids on several marijuana gardens in the Stumpy Meadows area off Wentworth Springs Road.

Over 15,000 marijuana plants with a street value of over 25 million dollars were located and destroyed. All of the gardens appear to have been "Mexican National" gardens, located in an area known for such illegal activity. No suspects were located, but evidence located in the gardens showed the suspects that were tending the gardens had been in the gardens as early as this morning, and in one garden, evidence showed the suspects had been armed.
