Mark you calendars for Saturday, June 7th and plan to join your friends and neighbors for the 5th annual "Truckee Day" town wide clean up and community block party. Truckee Day happens every year on the first Saturday in June and it's a great community event open to everyone from young to old and local and visitor alike. More than 800 volunteers came out for last year's event and collected an impressive 6 1/2 tons of roadside litter from Truckee streets.

A quick visit to www.truckeeday.org will help you find the check in station closest to you. On June 7th, just show up there between 8 am and 9 am, sign your volunteer form, grab some free refreshments as well as your free Truckee Day t-shirt and lunch ticket, get your street cleaning assignments and head out. Don't forget to wear sturdy clothing and shoes, put on that sunscreen and hat and bring a pair of work gloves, too.

After you clean up for a few hours, head down to Truckee River Regional Park at noon for a great town wide block party and Green Living Expo with live music by the Rusty Strings, a free barbecue lunch for every volunteer and lots of great booths, exhibits and activities for all the children.

During the month of May, Truckee Day champions will be circulating around the neighborhoods and subdivisions of Truckee to personally invite you to join the Truckee Day effort. Sponsorship materials and volunteer information are available online at www.truckeeday.org. Make plans to be a part of this special event.
