McClintock to take Oath of Office January 6th

Jan. 5, 2009 - Congressman-elect Tom McClintock will take the oath of office and be sworn in as the U.S. Representative from California's 4th Congressional District at noon Eastern Standard Time January 6th. A ceremonial swearing in, open to the media, will be held in the Rayburn Room H-207 in the Capitol at 3:15 EST. A reception for constituents and guests will begin at 11:30 a.m. that day in room 508 of the Cannon House Office Building. The District Office, located at 4230 Douglas Boulevard, Suite 200, Granite Bay will open and constituents are welcome to visit and meet the staff.
McClintock announced that Igor Birman has been appointed Chief of Staff. Birman graduated with a Doctor of Law degree from Emory University, where he chaired the Federalist Society. He is a member of the State Bar of California as well as an instrument-rated pilot. Birman's articles and op-ed pieces have been published around the country and he has provided guest commentary to local talk radio, as well as NPR, Fox News, C-SPAN and other national outlets. Birman, who is fluent in three languages, was born in the Soviet Union and saw firsthand the misery that tyrannical government inflicts on the people. He brings a deep appreciation for the value of freedom and American founding principles, having fled the USSR with his family at the age of 12. Birman will serve as the chief policy adviser to Congressman McClintock and manage the operations of the Congressional Office.
Dan Brennan has been appointed District Director. Brennan brings a wealth of legislative experience and knowledge of state and federal issues. Brennan's previous experience includes 12 years in senior staff positions working for California legislators. Brennan will manage all staff activities and constituent services in the District. He and his wife Allison are the parents of five children.
Jennifer Cressy has been appointed Communications Director. Cressy worked for Congressman-elect McClintock for the past 12 years, most recently as Communications Director at the California State Capitol in Sacramento, where Congressman-elect McClintock served as a state legislator. She was also the Communications Director for the McClintock for Governor campaign during the 2003 California gubernatorial recall race. She will manage all aspects of the press and communications strategy from Washington. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism with a minor in Political Science from California State University, Long Beach
Bill George has been appointed Press Secretary. He has more than twenty years' experience in journalism, marketing and public affairs. His government experience includes service as the assistant secretary of the California Trade & Commerce Agency. He will be responsible for fulfilling the district communications objectives. He lives with his family in Granite Bay where he is active in community affairs and charitable activities. He has a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri.
Norman Gonzales has been appointed Community Outreach Director. he brings with him many years of state and federal legislative experience including three years working in Congress. He will be responsible for projecting the Congressional office into the district and fulfilling the office's community outreach objectives. A former chairman of the Site Based Leadership Team at Twelve Bridges Middle School, Gonzales continues to serve as a member of the group which strives to improve student performance and achievement. He is a graduate of California State University Sacramento.
