Roseville, CA Mar. 20, 2010 – He's big, he's furry, and he needs a name. Placer SPCA is inviting the public to participate in a contest to name the new Mascot.

The Placer SPCA is introducing the larger-than-life dog costume to be worn by Placer SPCA volunteers to help promote the humane treatment of animals and raise awareness of the programs and services offered by the Placer SPCA.

Name suggestions will be accepted through the month of March. The top ten suggestions will be voted on during the month of April through a donation process, and the name of the mascot will be announced at Placer SPCA's Funny Bones Comedy & Awards Night on Friday, April 30.

The Mascot will appear at Placer SPCA events and as part of the organization's Humane Education program, helping to teach kindness, respect, and responsibility toward companion animals. Once he has been named, the Mascot will always wear his collar and identification tag as all dogs should.
