NEVADA CITY, Calif. May 8, 2008 -- Join SYRCL in a 25th Anniversary Reception for renowned adventurer, author, photographer and river advocate Tim Palmer on Monday evening, May 12th. Tim "wrote the book" on the modern river protection movement ("Endangered Rivers and the Conservation Movement," 2004) and with his wife Ann Vileisis wrote "The South Yuba Wild & Scenic River Report" for SYRCL in 1993, which became the foundational document for our successful campaign to protect 39 miles of the river through Wild & Scenic designation.
This intimate evening also serves as an Open House reception and sneak preview of SYRCL's new Yuba Stewards Center in our offices in downtown Nevada City. The festivities begin at 6:30 pm with a patio reception featuring wines from Nevada City Winery and gourmet treats.
Following the dessert reception, Tim Palmer will deliver a photographic presentation from his latest project and book, "Luminous Mountains: The Sierra Nevada of California." There will also be an update on SYRCL's latest initiatives and activities during our 25th year protecting and restoring the Yuba River and the greater Yuba Watershed.
Tickets are still available, although seating is limited for this exclusive "in-house" event.
