Monday, November 09, 2009 - County Assessor, Dale Flippin, announced his plans late last Friday to retire and not to run for a third term as Assessor of Nevada County. Additionally, he has announced that he will be leaving office at the end of December 2009. In his official notice of intent to the Board of Supervisors, he thanked the Board, the dedicated individuals of his staff and the administrative talents of the executive level of Nevada County government for making his career a successful and productive one. He asked that the Board accept the letter as his official notice of intent, expressing his desire to ensure a smooth transition of executive authority. Mr. Flippin has served in the capacity of elected Assessor for the past nine years.

Rick Haffey, County Executive Officer, stated that, “Dale will be greatly missed. It has been a pleasure to work with Dale. The County wishes him the very best in his future endeavors.” Hank Weston, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, said that “He appreciated Dale’s professionalism and calm demeanor in these difficult economic times.”

The County Executive Office will begin working immediately on a recommendation for the Board to take action regarding the interim time until the elections in June and November of 2010.
