Nevada County District Attorney's Office Files Misdemeanor Charges Against Former Animal Control Officer

Nevada City March 26, 2008 - The Nevada County District Attorney's Office announced today that:

The District Attorney's Office filed a misdemeanor charge for annoying a 16-year old victim against former Animal Control Sgt. Timothy Mienar today.

The Nevada County Sheriff received a report that Mienar had engaged in misconduct while on duty by annoying a child. Sheriff detectives immediately investigated the criminal allegations and sent over a complete set of reports for evaluation by the DA's Office.

Mienar resigned from his position at Animal Control shortly after the investigation began. Mienar has been cited to appear in court on April 14, 2008 at 9 am.
