December 13, 2013 - Mary Ross is the Chief Fiscal Administrative Officer for the Information and General Services Agency. Mary has served on the Board of Directors for the radio station, KVMR 89.5 FM, since 2009 and was elected Board President in October 2013.

The mission of KVMR is to entertain, inform, and challenge its listeners with a diverse mix of music, news, opinion and information. The station seeks to improve its listeners' lives with timely, relevant and engaging programming.

Mary enjoys volunteering for KVMR because the people of the community are responsible for what goes on the air and they get a chance to share their passion for music and ideas on the public's airwaves. She believes very strongly that independent media is vital to our democracy, and KVMR helps fulfill that need in our community.

In addition to working with contracts, budgets and negotiations, the highlight of her work with KVMR has been building a partnership with the Nevada Theatre to construct a new building in Nevada City to provide a new home for KVMR and backstage space for the historic theater. Local video producers have prepared a video that describes the project. It can be found at http://vimeo.com/63303996

Mary invites you to tune in to 89.5 FM (105.1 in Truckee) or at www.kvmr.org, become a member and support the building campaign. For more information you can contact Mary at theboard@kvmr.org.
