New Executive Committee for SPO/SEDCorp

The Sierra Economic Development Corporation (SEDCorp) and Sierra Planning Organization (SPO) held their Joint Board of Directors meeting in Auburn, December 5, 2007, and elected their new officers for the coming year. Norma Santiago, Board of Supervisors for South Lake Tahoe in El Dorado County, will assume the role of SPO Chair; Barbara Green, Town of Truckee City Council, will act as Vice Chair; and Gary Pigg, City of Placerville, will act as Secretary/Treasurer. SPO is the designated regional Council of Governments (COG) for the foothill region of El Dorado, Placer, Nevada and Sierra Counties, focused on regional policy concerns such as land use near regional airports, environmental impacts and infrastructure.
For the SEDCorp Board, Joshua Alpine, Colfax City Council, will assume the Chair's role, Norma Santiago will be Vice Chair, and Gary Pigg will act as Secretary/Treasurer, each serving for the next year.
SEDCorp, a non-profit corporation established in 1969, is a state- and U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration-designated Economic Development District for the four SPO counties. The multi-county organization is funded from a combination of federal, state and local sources to promote and support job preservation and creation and a stable economy for the District. SEDCorp seeks to establish a thriving economy that values the natural environment".
The SEDCorp Board is served by a professional staff located in Auburn that provides a wide range of technical assistance to its jurisdictions including economic development consulting, small business loan program administration, demographic information dissemination, and a wide range of special project administration.
