North Lake Tahoe Fireworks Are a Go

By: North Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureaus

NORTH LAKE TAHOE, California/Nevada – North Lake Tahoe plays host to a number of independence events and celebrations, which began Wednesday, July 2.

"The Fourth of July holiday traditionally brings thousands of visitors to North Lake Tahoe," said Andy Chapman, tourism director of the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association. "This year is no different. The skies are sunny and clear, and our lodging properties, restaurants, recreation and retail establishments are open and geared up to provide the best vacation for our guests."

Incline Village pulls out all the stops with a multi-day celebration, scheduled for Wednesday, July 2 through Friday, July 4, called Red, White and Tahoe Blue. Special events include parade, dress up doggie contest, opening ceremonies, ice cream social and hot dog party for kids and rubber ducky race. The festivities culminate with the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival's "An Evening on the Green with the Reno Philharmonic in Concert with the Fireworks Display," Friday, July 4, along with a 6 p.m. Dinner on the Village Green by Brimm's Catering. Tickets are $55 per person.

Fireworks also get under way at Kings Beach Thursday, July 3. The show starts at 9 p.m. (and the deck party begins at 6 p.m.) and can be best seen from the Kings Beach State Recreation Area and the North Tahoe Conference Center. The Village at Squaw Valley USA hosts a "Whole Lotta' Squaw," a colorful laser show and concert at the base of the mountain, with the Heartbreaker band playing the sounds of Led Zeppelin on July 3. Tickets are $10 per family.

Tahoe City's 62nd annual celebration begins at dusk at Commons Beach on Friday, July 4. Prime viewing spots are from the beach, where family picnics are popular, as well as various locations throughout town along North Lake Boulevard. Guests can also make a reservation at one of many lakefront restaurants. Jake's on the Lake takes reservations for indoor dining. Deck seating is also open at Wolfdale's Cuisine Unique and Christy Hill Restaurants.

It's an old-fashioned July Fourth Holiday Celebration in Truckee with a 10 a.m. hometown parade, Friday, July 4, in historical downtown followed by an evening fireworks display, dusk, at Donner Lake's West End Beach. Tickets must be purchased in advance, as beach access is limited to local residents and homeowners.

North Lake Tahoe is a 45-minute drive from the Reno Tahoe International Airport, two hours from Sacramento International Airport and just over three hours from San Francisco International Airport. For lodging reservations, recreation and event details, call North Lake Tahoe at 1-877-949-3296 or visit www.GoTahoeNorth.com. Visitor information centers are located at 380 North Lake Boulevard in Tahoe City and 969 Tahoe Boulevard in Incline Village. The North Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureaus, Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitors Bureau and the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, work together to promote North Lake Tahoe as a premier, year-round destination.
