Park Ranger Full Moon Hikes on Lake Tahoe Shore

By: Ranger Heidi Doyle, California State Parks

Feb. 10, 2010 - California State Park rangers will be leading a Full Moon hike along Tahoe's magical west shore on Saturdays February 27 and March 27. Tours begin on the lake side of the park and explore the natural and cultural history around the Hellman-Ehrman estate and Lake Tahoe shoreline. Few experiences compare to snowshoeing to the light of a full moon along the snow covered Tahoe shoreline.

For those new to snowshoeing, there will be a beginner's clinic at 6:30pm, with the hike leaving at 7pm. The programs last approximately 1 ½ hours and costs $12 per person, with no charge for children 12 and under. The cost includes snowshoe rentals, if needed. All proceeds support the Sierra State parks Foundation.

Reservations can be made through our State Park partners, West Shore Sports at 530-525- 9920.
