LAKE TAHOE, Nevada, July 2, 2009 - Members of the public will have two opportunities in July to comment on the proposed 30-mile Stateline-to-Stateline Bikeway along the east shore of Lake Tahoe.
A feasibility study is being undertaken for the bikeway, which would extend from Sand Harbor on the North Shore to the Stateline casino core area on the South Shore. Planners are interested in hearing from the public on a variety of issues related to the proposal, including the alignment of trail segments.
The meetings are scheduled as follows:
South Shore Meeting
When: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009
Where: Tahoe Regional Planning Agency
128 Market Street, Stateline, NV
North Shore Meeting
When: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009
Where: The Chateau at Incline Village
955 Fairway Blvd, Incline Village, NV
Those unable to attend the meetings may provide comments through the project web site by visiting www.nvtahoebikeway.com . The site includes overall project information, demonstration project details, upcoming meeting announcements and an opportunity to sign up for the project mailing list.
Details: The proposed bikeway would connect to the existing California path system creating a premier bikeway circling Lake Tahoe. The bikeway will provide a non-motorized vehicle link to recreation areas, community centers, transportation facilities and neighborhoods, enhancing recreational access and transportation choices for residents and visitors to the Tahoe Basin.
The feasibility study provides an overview of the opportunities and constraints that will affect the location of the proposed Bikeway. This information, coupled with the results of the recently completed Trail Suitability Model effort, will be used to determine the most suitable locations for a shared use bikeway.
