You can make a difference by volunteering right here in your community. By sharing your time and talents to help others, you can help bring a sense of hope to our hearts, homes, neighborhoods, and ultimately our nation.
Everyone is invited to share their time and talents with Nevada County non-profits, public agencies, and schools. For persons 55 and over, accident, liability, and excess auto insurance are provided and limited mileage reimbursement is available. RSVP is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service and sponsored locally by the Area 4 Agency on Aging.
Planning is underway for this Penn Valley Camp sponsored by the Partners Family Resource Center. Many folks are needed to assist with arts & crafts, music, games, snacks and more. Dates are: June 24-28 and July 8-12. Your volunteer efforts will ensure an affordable, educational and fun camp experience accessible to all children.
Draftsperson- Assessor's Office
A volunteer is needed to draw building sketches from blueprints using an electronic sketching program. This will assist appraisers in the determination of taxable property. Computer skills are needed, however training on the software program is provided.
Deed Scanner- Assessor's Office
Need a project you can sink your teeth into? Assist the Assessor's office in their transition to electronic record storage of deeds. This involves scanning recorder deeds of back years that are filed in deed books. Training on the electronic scanner is provided.
Spread the Word for "Read-Up"
Contribute your creative energy and good communication skills to strengthen literacy for Nevada County adults by becoming the "Read-Up" program's Literacy Outreach Coordinator. Educate our community citizens and leaders about the devastating impact of illiteracy on people's lives, and the wonderful success stories of tutoring. Call RSVP for a detailed job description. If you are outgoing, a good communicator and believe in literacy, this is the volunteer job for you!
Help Make History Come To Life!
The Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum is looking for volunteers to help at their wonderful museum in Nevada City. They are happily growing and with more volunteers they will be able to keep the museum open more days per week. There are a number of ways to help: Gift Shop Volunteer, Museum Docent, Special Events Coordinator, and more. This is a great group of dedicated volunteers that help others learn of our rich history and cultural heritage in Nevada County. Come be a part of it!

Two Grass Valley Chambers are looking for volunteers to greet guests, give information, and help with office tasks. If you are enjoy meeting new people and sharing your knowledge of the area, consider exploring this opportunity. Shifts vary.
A Vibrant Community is Well Informed & Involved
KVMR builds community by bringing people together to celebrate the music of the world and give voice to the community. Volunteers are needed to assist with the annual membership drive. Be a Match for the Business Ignitor Program
This grass roots local non-profit helps creates real Nevada County jobs by educating and encouraging local entrepreneurs. Volunteer help is needed in a variety of areas including social media and marketing, fund development, class registration coordinator, administrative and clerical assistance. Computer skills are required.
Is There a "Thrifter" in your Family?
Send them out to volunteer at their favorite shop! A number of local thrift stores are in need of volunteers to assist with sorting and pricing merchandise, re-stocking, cashiering and more. Shifts are mornings or afternoons Mon-Fri, 4 hours weekly. Volunteering ensures that all contributions go directly back to the community to support the non profits.
Coordinators Needed for Animal Rescue Group
A last chance animal rescue non profit would love assistance with the coordination of their volunteers. The interest and willingness to work with people who want to help animals is the basic requirement. Some office time and computer skills are helpful. A second coordinator is needed to help organize fundraising events. Some experience in putting on events and fundraising are the skills needed for this important volunteer job. This is a 100% volunteer organization doing valuable work in our community for our homeless animals.
What to do when Tax Season is Over?
There are several non profits in our area are looking for volunteers with expertise in the finance area. If you have bookkeeping experience and are able to serve as treasurer on a nonprofit board, please call RSVP. There are many worthy causes that need your help.
Caring Compassionate Hospital Volunteers
The hospital auxiliary is looking for caring, compassionate, dependable volunteers to join their organization. There are so many interesting volunteer positions available. A few examples include: Gift Shop, Cancer Center, Emergency Dept., Diagnostic Imaging, Main Lobby, Nursing Floor, and more.
