Road to Bristlecone Forest to Open May 10

By: Nancy Upham, Inyo National Forest

The Inyo National Forest has announced that the paved road into the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest will open as far as Schulman Grove on Saturday, May 10th.

Bristlecone Pine Forest Manager John Louth stated that while the Methuselah Trail is still blocked by snow, two other trails at Schulman Grove are now snow free and open. The Bristlecone Pine Forest Visitor Center will be staffed on weekends beginning May 24th and will increase days of operation after the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Louth also noted that the Silver and Wyman Canyon Roads remain closed due to snow at higher elevations.

For further information on the road conditions in the White Mountains or days of operation at the Bristlecone Pine Forest Visitor Center please contact John Louth at 873-2514.
