Shifting Wind Patterns Responsible for Smoke in Nevada, Yuba, Sierra Counties

August 2, 2012 - As the afternoon wind patterns shifted and temperatures are at their peak levels, smoke from the Chips Fire has begun to filter south.
Yuba City/Marysville, all of Plumas County are under a health advisory for smoke. Smoke impacts are now being seen as far as Penn Valley, Grass Valley and Nevada City.
The same weather pattern is expected tomorrow and a Fire Weather Watch will be in effect on Saturday.
According to the fire weather forecast:"Cascades and Sierra Nevada from 3500’ to Crest, NE California and NW Nevada: Late afternoon and overnight thunderstorms expected Saturday with lingering thunderstorms Sunday. Otherwise, no significant fire weather."
