ROCKLIN, Calif. April 16, 2013 - Sierra College invites the public to "Veterans Stand Together," a FREE family friendly event to celebrate the homecoming of recently returning veterans, and more importantly introduce them to veteran resources, networking opportunities, and support services, as they transition from military to college and beyond.

WHEN: Friday May 3, 2013 from 10:00am to 2:00pm

On this occasion, as a campus and community we celebrate their experiences and their voluntary sacrifices. Sierra College Veterans Task Force, with the support of Veterans Affairs, Cal Vet, various local businesses and non-profit organizations has teamed up to launch the first annual Sierra College event: "Veterans Stand Together." Join us for a BBQ, and a good time. Come cheer on our student veterans as they compete in a Veteran's Kick Ball Tournament between local colleges. Talk to over 50+ local, county, state, and federal agencies providing information and interactive services for veterans and their families.

Sierra College President, Willy Duncan will be on hand to open the event with welcoming remarks and share the college's vision for a Veterans Resource Center (VRC). The VRC will offer comprehensive services from the time vets enter Sierra College until they transition into their chosen career paths and/or transfer programs.

Sac State ROTC will be posting colors. We are also hosting a free BBQ pulled pork lunch prepared by veteran owned and operated L.B. Soul Food Catering (Suggested donation of $7.00 per meal is requested).

The Sierra College Veterans Task Force encourages veterans in the community to join us in the fun, and take away some valuable information. This family friendly event will also host a children's mini carnival with activities, so bring the whole crew along.

Free parking will be available for all participants.

Come Stand Together with those who volunteered to serve, protect and defend.
