Smoke in the air is from a fire in Tehama County

By: Truckee Police Dept.

TRUCKEE, Calif. May 3, 2013 - The smoke in the air is from the Panther fire in Tehama County north of the Truckee area. The smoke is being carried by gusty winds from the north into the Truckee basin. More information on this fire can be found on the Cal-Fire website at http://cdfdata.fire.ca.gov/incidents/incidents_current .

Truckee Police reminds residents and visitors to be fire wise with the upcoming fire season. With our dry winter and early fire season, it is never too early to start preparing for fire season. More information can be found at http://www.readyforwildfire.org/ and the Truckee Fire Department website. The Town of Truckee also has an active green waste program for removing yard waste. Information on the green waste program is attached.
