GRASS VALLEY, March 10, 2008 - At their general meeting on March 27 in Grass Valley, the Wolf Creek Community Alliance presents "Stolen Gold: The Real Cost of Gold Mining."
Has gold mining ever profited Nevada County?
Or are short-term economic benefits outweighed by long-term environmental costs?
Alex Keeble, a Nevada County local, graduated Magna Cum Laude from UCLA in 2002. Her 2006 masters thesis is based on historical analysis of gold mining in Nevada County. With the potential reopening of the historic Idaho-Maryland Gold Mine in Grass Valley, anyone interested in Nevada County's future needs to attend this meeting.
Come join us and educate yourself on the true cost of gold mining. Don't let history repeat itself!
When: Thursday, March 27, 6:30 PM
Where: NID Annex building, 1036 West Main, Grass Valley
