Tahoe Arts Project Oscar Night a Success

South Lake Tahoe, CA April 7, 2008 - Tahoe Arts Project (TAP) recently conducted its annual major fundraising event 'An Evening With Oscar' at host resort, MontBleu. The event netted over $6,000 to fund multiple artist fees for TAP's 2008-09 performing arts line-up.

"South Shore locals and businesses generously came forward to support our annual event," stated Peggy Thompson, executive director of TAP. "We're a bi-state non-profit that critically relies on donations from the community to be able to continue our local youth performing arts programs," she continued.

TAP hires artists to perform at 11 South Lake Tahoe schools serving over 5,000 K-12th grade students to meet the need for high quality performing arts activities. "For many of these children, TAP provides their only exposure to live performing arts," according to Thompson.

The TAP Board of Directors would like to recognize the following businesses and people for making the Oscar night a success:

Upcoming 2008 programs brought to our community by TAP and its local sponsors include:

- The Kusun Ensemble West African Music and Dance sponsored in part by Robert & Pat Dodds. School shows (K-12) April 28-May 2; public performance May 2 at Lake Tahoe Community College Duke Theater.

- 7th Annual Lake Tahoe Festival of Fine Arts, a fundraiser for Tahoe Arts Project will take place July 12 and 13 outdoors at South Tahoe Middle School. Artist and Food Vendor applications are available at www.tahoeartsproject.org or call 530 542-3632.
