Tahoe Truckee Teachers Association Endorses Measure U
Encourages a "Yes on U" Vote November 4

By: Yes On Measure U!

Truckee, CA - The Tahoe Truckee Teachers Association (TTEA) has announced their support of Measure U, the school facilities bond on the ballot November 4th. Alison Elder, Measure U Campaign Chairperson, reached for comment after the announcement, stated, "We are very pleased that our wonderful teachers and Tahoe Truckee Educational Association, the CTA affiliate representing our teachers, has officially endorsed Measure U. We appreciate, recognize and thank all involved in this endorsement!"

The TTEA endorsement helps to secure wide ranging support from teachers throughout the District and is a significant boon to ongoing campaign efforts. Teachers believe Measure U improvements will greatly enhance the instructional environment for students, which in turn, will benefit the learning process and student achievement.

Measure U supporters are working diligently to educate voters about the need for Measure U and how it will bring aging facilities into the 21st century. One such example is Truckee High School, which was originally constructed in 1950. THS will receive a new state of the art library/media center as well as a new vocational education wing, among a long list of other improvements, if voters approve Measure U.

Jon Halvorsen, TTEA Vice President, said the organization has thrown their full support behind the measure because, "We believe that not only will our students perform better in high quality, safe and energy efficient buildings, our teachers will as well. We are proud to support Measure U, and look forward to being integrally involved in the planning process after the bond passes!"

In addition to the hundreds of community members who have publically endorsed and become "Friends of Measure U" the measure has also been endorsed by the Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation and the Excellence in Education Foundation.
